MARVÃO, PORTALEGRE
The Marvão project transforms an estate near Marvão, Portugal, into a sustainable private residence, integrating five existing structures with a focus on preserving the local architectural and cultural heritage. The centerpiece is the “Komorebi roof,” featuring green photovoltaic panels that blend with the landscape and generate all the site’s energy.
Innovative design elements include an “active insulation” system that maintains internal temperatures while preserving the original stone walls. The project seamlessly combines modern sustainability, like natural air circulation through a repurposed chimney, with traditional building techniques, enhancing the connection between interior and exterior spaces.
